The Memphis Southmen, originally the Toronto Northmen, were sent packing by the Canadian Parliament before ever playing a game.  They landed in Memphis in 1974 as one of the WFL's charter teams and signed such stars as Larry Csonka, Jim Kiick, and Paul Warfield.  Also on the roster was a little known rookie quarterback by the name of Danny White.  The team was known by most as the "Grizzlies", after the bear on the helmet.
